A Strong Tang Dynasty

Because the Sui dynasty had reunified the northern and southern portions of China, the Tang empire was able to create a strong centralized government and work towards unifying the political divisions between its people. Other accomplishments of the Sui dynasty, such has canals and granaies helped the Tang dynasty communicate throughout the empire and transport goods.

Artistic Tang Dynasty

What about the Tang Dynasty art was distinctive and interesting? Tang painters represent a watershed in Chinese pictorial art. Tang painters were renowned for their work on paper and silk. The most celebrated painter of the Tang Dynasty period was Wu Daoxuan. Sadly none of his work survives today. The subject most associtated with the tang is landscape painting. There were two major styles, so-called Northen School and Southern School.                                   

Poetic Tang Dynasty

Who were some famous poets and why? DuFu, Li Bo and Wang Wei were three of the chief poets of the Tang Dynasty who represent some of the best poets that China ever produced. These men varied in experience and outlokk. DuFu, whoes life in court difficult wrote about his wanderings and misfortunes. A characteristic of Li Bo's poetry is the air of  playfulness and outright skill. Wang Wei's poems gave a clear picture, he was also a great painter.

What kind of emporers were they? The founder of the Tang Dynasty was Yang Di's. Taizong was another ruler who despite his inital violent reign, was an excellent ruler. He continued the military programs, he also strengthen the government founded schools. The Tang Dynasty was a time of great achivements because of its emporors.

In science, the Tang Dynasty contributed a lot to the development of astronomey, medcine and printing technique in Chinese history. During the Tang Dynasty trade with Central Asia and the West was established with extensive caraven routes. It was considered the golden age of Chinese poetry, art, music, and literature. The T'ang Dynasty was also during the time block printing was invented.
